Our Mission
To protect, shelter, and provide quality care for unwanted,
abandoned, abused and stray animals of Sumter County.
To strive to adopt these orphan animals into stable and
loving homes.
To alleviate suffering and prevent cruelty to animals.
To advocate the spaying and neutering of animals to help
reduce unwanted animals, promote population control, and
help reduce the necessity of euthanasia.
To educate the community in regards to responsible pet
ownership and the proper care and humane treatment of
animals.
To promote the identification of all animals in Sumter
County.

A SPECIAL FRIEND TO ANIMALS AND PEOPLE
I. WHAT IS THE S.P.C.A?
The S.P.C.A. is The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
The Sumter Society was organized in 1969 by the late Elaine D. (Sunny)
Korn.
II. HOW THE S.P.C.A SERVES SUMTER AND HELPS YOU:
- Provides a modern facility for orphan animals. Individuals are urged
to bring any unwanted pet, abandoned, abused or stray animal to
the shelter.
- Provides a place for you to find a new family member.
- Promotes spaying and neutering.
- Investigates reported cruelty complaints.
- Promotes community health and safety.
- Serves as an Information Center, helping people with animal
information and or problems.
- Offers Humane Education to the Community.
- Provides Euthanasia when necessary. The S.P.C.A. does not have
a time limit for sheltering animals- healthy, adoptable animals are
housed as long as possible.
